Do you have "fill in the blank"?
I might. Use the contact form to ask me anything pertaining to the site.
What kind of Locomotives do you have?
There are steam, diesel and diesel electric locomotives representing almost every time period of railroad history from the civil war to the present. Most are medium to high quality brands - Mantua, Bowser, Bachman, Rivarossi, etc. Some are out-of-the-box, some kits, some brass kits, and some kit-bashed. Many have DCC encoders and some are old style Dc models. I will include DCC data sheets where applicable and list whether or not the loco has sound.
What can you tell me about your rolling stock?
- Everything is HO scale unless otherwise noted.
- Everything has Kadee couplers unless otherwise noted.
- Dad weighted his rolling stock, but I don't currently know what the average weight is. If there is an NMRA standard, that is probably it.
- There is rolling stock from almost every manufacturer. I will try to label things as best as I can.
What roads are represented?
Just watch the listings or look at the video or photos. Dad grew up around the Lehigh Valley RR and that was his favorite. But many others are represented - PRR, Reading, D&H, Union Pacific, his own LJ&W and more.
Will you break up lots (groups) of items and sell individually?
Not unless the auction times out and the item doesn't sell as originally listed. I don't want this process to take forever. If I group items, it will probably make sense why I did it, ie; a group of Pullman cars painted identically. a unit train of coal cars from one road or company, the Auto Train, etc. Or it might be bags of small items or building supplies like windows or freight trucks or human figures.
Will you take an item off ebay and sell directly to me?
Once an auction is posted, I will not disturb it unless a significant mistake has been made. If the auction times out without a buyer, I will entertain direct offers or edit and re-list the item in a new auction.
How should I pay?
I prefer Paypal. That gives us both a reasonable sense of financial safety and security. I may accept personal chacks by special request. Cash is OK if we are meeting in person to transfer a large item or order. DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE MAIL. Items will not be shipped until payment has been received.
What about returns?
NO RETURNS. All sales are "as-is". All sales are final. we are liquidating my fathers estate, not running a clothing store. I will do my best to describe all items as accurately as I can. Feel free to contact me and ask questions before the sale.
Where are you located?
These items are either at my mothers house or my house. For our safety and security, I will not give an address. We are located about 2.5 hrs away from each other in northern/western South Carolina. delivery meets can be arranged for large items or large orders within a reasonable distance around Greenville, SC.
How do you ship? How much will shipping cost?
- Most items will ship USPS. I will try to keep shipping costs as low as possible.
- If you want overnight shipping or insurance on your order, please contact me to arrange that.
- To get an estimate of shipping cost, use "Greenville, SC" as the place of origin.
- Shipping cost will be "actual cost" unless otherwise noted. If an item is especially delicate or large and I have to buy special shipping materials, I will try to note that in the auction so there are no surprises.
When will my item ship?
I have a full-time job. So please be patient. I will try to package and ship your order on my next day off from work after receiving your payment. This may take 4 or 5 days. Rest assured, I will ship as fast as I can. I have bought hundreds of things on the internet and I know the anticipation of a new package.
I see a mistake in one of your listings. How do I let you know?
Feel free to correct me through the contact form. I am not an expert on identification of these items. I am not completely ignorant of railroad equipment either. Please show me something to confirm your correction, though so that I know to trust your correction. I have already been corrected on one item. I welcome the education.
Will you sell/ship internationally?
Yes. I will begin listing international shipping in my auctions from here on out. Current auctions that have bids can not be changed in that way. But we can still work it out before you send payment. From my brief research on this so far, it appears that "first class international" might be the least expensive way to do it. Bear in mind, you pay the shipping costs.
Will you modify something for me? (ie; will you remove or reprogram a DCC encoder?)
No. I wish I could offer extra services. But I do not have time for that right now. I am able to confirm operation and address of an encoder and I am doing that with each DCC locomotive. But I have not learned to program them. It is taking a lot of time to prepare these items for auction without doing any modifications. All items are sold "as-is".
Why are you selling by auction?
Because I don't know the value of most of these items. I have a very vague ballpark value of these things if they were new. But I know that most of them are not new. I want this process to progress as fast as possible and I don't want to cheat anyone. So the most logical thing I could think of is to use ebay and start with low prices. That way the market (you, the customers) will automatically price things for me. Is that lazy? Maybe. But it's the best scenario I could come up with. You determine what you are willing to pay for an item. You are in control.
